ADA Minion’s Diabetes Myths

I am an easy going guy… I usually do not let things get to me.

HOWEVER, since being diagnosed with Diabetes and seeing what a low carb food pyramid can do … I really get angry when someone promotes a high carb meal plan as being the preferred diabetic diet.

I REALLY get fired up when I see people promote a high carb meal plan…. WHEN THEY PROFIT from such a meal plan.

Joslin Diabetes Center, with their “fine” logo… is just such a organization. As you can see… it’s “the world’s preeminent diabetes research group”.   And they are associated with Harvard… so … you know you are getting the very best advice in the world… right???

Joslin is an ADA Minion,  posted this article today on Twitter.  Five Common Food Myths for People with Diabetes Debunked

Information contained in this post will only keep most diabetics on an ever increasing regimen of drugs and insulin.

How do I know this???

BECAUSE I talk to many of them every week!  Go to any diabetes board, forum, newsgroup etc,  VAST majority of the people who eat the “ADA Way” can not control their blood sugar with out ever increasing amount of drugs and insulin…. and of course you must take Cholesterol and Blood Pressure drugs too….   WHAT A CROCK!!!   (ADA stands for American Diabetes Association)

Just to avoid confusion, what you will see in the “quoted” areas… are Myths according to Joslin… a “respected” drug salesman for Big Pharma.

Myth 1.  People with diabetes have to eat different foods from the rest of the family.

Are you KIDDING ME???

First, the typical family eats ENTIRELY too many sweets, high carb and highly processsed foods….  SO OF COURSE A DIABETIC should NOT eat like them.

For type 1’s … their pancreas do NOT produce insulin… so why in the HELL would you suggest a Type 1 continue to eat like the rest of the family???  It is UNETHICAL!!
For type 2’s ….  EATING LIKE  “THE REST OF THE FAMILY” is what put them in this CONDITION!!!  Of course you must change your  meal plan… OR YOU WILL LIKELY TAKE an increasing amount of drugs and insulin… for life!!!

This is so typical of ADA MINION “enabling”  drivel   ….. why would Joslin, Harvard…hell…even the ADA say this?

This is straight out of the ADA playbook.  Why do they suggest such a thing, when they know that most REQUIRE DRUGS TO EAT THIS WAY!?!?!  …. is it all about the money?

Myth 2.  People with diabetes should never give in to food cravings.

The best way to deal with food cravings is to try to prevent them by following a healthy eating plan that lets you occasionally fit sweets into your diabetes meal plan

This doesn’t make any sense, they are encouraging DIABETICS TO EAT SWEETS.  Do you know what happens when a diabetic eats sweets?  They must take drugs and / or insulin to cover it.  Why would you condone, encourage it???

Will people “cheat” ? Probably… but do NOT CONDONE IT!  I am NOT for diabetics “beating themselves up” over lapses .. by all means STAY positive… but to not “enable” and condone it!!

Does AA condone relapse… even encourage them??? NO! It is ridiculous.

Myth 3.  People with diabetes shouldn’t eat too many starchy foods, even if they contain fiber, because starch raises your blood glucose and makes you gain weight.

At this point… I am almost speechless… ALMOST!  :)

Eating too many starchy and high carb foods is POISON to diabetics. IT requires them to take drugs and insulin to “cover” … encouraging high carb foods is… UNETHICAL.

** This advice does NOT benefit DIABETICS …. so who benefits from this advice???

Answer: Big Agra such as Monsanto, Big Pharma, the ADA & Their Minion .

IF 24 million diabetics in the USA  reduced drugs, reduced insulin …. who benefits? The diabetics…

I urge you to check out the links to My Meal Plan as well as my links to Low Carb Recipes, for truly “diabetic friendly” foods. :)
Thank you.

Wow! I can't believe the misinformation they are spreading. Eating fatty foods will raise your blood glucose levels? Carbohydrates are our body's energy source? Well, maybe one of them, but not the best energy source. I'll take ketosis and protein any day over carbs. I like my energy to last long and remain steady. I bet Joslin doesn't even understand the concept of ketosis. ;)

The diet stuff is the worst. They pretty much make it sound like diabetics (or people, in general) will never be able to control themselves around sugar (AKA junk food) so it's ok to eat that crap once in awhile. Let's prove them wrong!

    1. Thank you for your feedback Michelle. I know that YOU are proving them wrong DAILY!!! You have helped inspire and motivate me…thank you, and CONGRATS to your success!!!

  2. I agree with Michelle. The ADA knows what's actually best for a diabetic (a low carb, no processed food diet) BUT here's what they say amongst themselves…or as I imagine it, “these diabetics will NEVER actually follow a diet restrictive enough to help them, so we'll just tell them what they want to hear, and meanwhile we'll pad our pockets with money from the drugs they'll have to take.”

What do you need to do? Arm yourself with information. Follow Steve's advice; he's living proof of what can be changed by diet and exercise. He's a real living case study, not a doctor being subsidized by drug companies, not a politician or government employee being influenced by high powered lobbyists.

Stand up for your health, because no one will do it if you don't.

    1. Tiffany, thanks again for your comments…they are appreciated.

I’ve been told by ADA Minions that a reason they do not push Low Carb is for that reason… “most can not do it”…. BUT that is “playing god”.

They are deciding who can live or die slowly…. PERSONALLY this is just an excuse they use to “rationalize” keeping people on a meal plan that requires the patient to use more drugs, more insulin and MORE IMPORTANTLY keeps the patient in NEED of their DECEITFUL services.

I agree …. we MUST take responsibility for our own health… listen and learn from a Low Carb Friendly doctor but we must choose. We can not blindly assume the medical industry is looking out for our best interests. They are ONLY dispensing drugs to stop the symptoms…they are not treating the disease.

  3. I whole heartily agree. Not only are they “playing god” but insulting our intelligence and abilities as well. It's a big FAT insult. Keep spreading the word, keep proving it can be done.

  5. Well thanks a bunch! It isn't even 7:30 and my ketone ridden blood is BOILING!
Oh the freaking ADA KNOWS all about low carb! I'd bet my poor diabetic ass on it! I believe the main reason they keep spouting this crap is MONEY IN THE BANK! If we diabetics follow their advice, the ONLY ROAD leads to drugs, followed by MORE drugs, followed by more doctor visits due to horrible complications!! The entire system is against the actual TREATMENT of the problem. Excess sugar in the blood! They put out these “Myth-Debunkers” at least once a month through one of their mouthpieces, be it Joslins, Webmd.. whoever. It's the same old song, sing along with me. “Diabetes wasn't your fault…Don't count the carbs, just eat more whole grains…We'll be happy to sell you the easy way out with our patented happy pills…Don't pay attention to the heart attacks or the little monkey in the corner who is screaming something about low-carb”! To them that song is money in the BANK! Unfortunately, to TOO MANY diabetics, that song is the feel-good hit of a life time!! “Of course my doc has my BEST interest at heart”… “Diabetes is genetic…how can I fight genetics”…”Well Doc SAYS my pills are doing more help than harm”…
    FREAKING DISGUSTING!!!

@Tiffany – EXACTLY RIGHT!!! BE YOUR OWN HEALTH ADVOCATE!!!

  6. I hear ya. I once posted on the ADA blog about low carb etc etc. I was blasted as a “dangerous extremest”.

So, here’s once “dangerous extremest” that fixed his blood sugar problem several years ago. Fastings once in the 130’s now in the mid 70’s. Just by chagning my diet to a more primal one with lots of fat. I lost 30 lbs too.

The ADA is a crock. I’m an RN and I never advocate thier dietary garbage.

  7. Thanks for the comment Dave. I am often asked “why”…. why would the ADA and their minions do this?

My only answer is GREED! … would like to hear your thoughts. Steve

  8. Sandra_Abernathy

All of us who eat low carb or no carb meals should offer to be the family cooks and make the rest of the family eat like we do!! Seriously!! Steve, I’m with you. ADA and others who follow them are making money, but helping Diabetics die from complications of the disease. With “Friends” like that, who needs em? Not me or any of us!!
