A post … mainly pictures of a ‘day in the life’ of a successful diabetic … me. :)
This post revolves around my latest experiment and achieving my target blood sugars.
Let me thank TotalDiabetesSupply.com. I could not test as much as I do if it were not for them providing me with free testing supplies. . By the way, I am not compensated (other than free supplies) . They in no way influence my decisions or posting other than a ‘thank you’, occasionally. :)
A Day in the Life
Saturday 11/22/14 – I just noticed the Freedom FreeStyle Lite’s date is off a day.
That has been the only issue with this unit, the date and time will lose time, over time.
7:00 am – I drank several coffees infused with butter and coconut oil.
It ‘hit me’, the idea to do a ‘day in the life’ …
7:20 am – Tested my blood sugars… a tad higher than I would like, especially the Freedom Freestyle Lite (left), but I’ll take it. :)
By the way, if you will notice i am testing two meters ( I am reviewing the Accu-Chek).
It’s funny how the mind works… I always think the lowest is correct. lol
The Accu-Chek Nano is obviously the better meter (on the right) … this time. :)
7:30 to 10:20 Reading and Writing
10:20 AM Went for a Dog Walk – It was a gorgeous but chilly morning! Absolutely gorgeous… not a cloud in the sky.
Below are two pictures of Arya … she’s standing on my stomach in the first picture. :)
11:00 AM Blood Sugar Tests
I bet you guessed already… the Freedom FreeStyle Lite read my blood sugar correctly this time. :)
If you do not know, blood sugar variances can be as much as 15-20% … even on the same drop of blood. The fact that these meters are ‘this’ close shows they are solid meters.
Also, given the variances.. this is almost the same as the initial reading of the day, Numerically, slightly lower after the dog walk.
12:30 to 2:30 PM Bike Ride, Foraging, Playing and Cooking
I stopped and picked wild dandelion leaves and one blossom.
I ‘wilted’ the dandelion greens in the black cast iron skillet after the large pork chop was almost done.
I ate this meal about 2:30 PM. It was my first ‘meal’ of the day.
3:30 PM – One Hour Post Blood Sugar Test
Eating a moderate protein, low carb meal … you would expect very little increase in blood sugars… and there was none. :)
From 3:30 PM until 8:45 PM I relaxed, chilled reading and writing. I ate about 12 oz of round steak around 7 PM. No picture, sorry. :)
8:45 PM Brief but Intense eXercise! I posted on Facebook that I had completed my daily challenge for the day.
If you have not read this post on my latest experiment … read and heed. :)
9:40 PM Approximately 45 – 50 minutes post exercise, my blood sugars were … golden. I do not want to exceed 100 mg/dl and … given the variances of the meters this was close enough for me. Besides, we all know the meter on the right is most accurate … this time. :)
Note: I did not test again and my blood sugars could have continued rising, but I doubt it. I do know that typically my blood sugars rise quickly and peak in 15-20 minutes after INTENSE exercising.
Regardless, I have done and will be doing many more experiments to test this. :)
Summary
I really prefer to have lower overnight fasting blood sugar levels… I really like the 70’s and even 60’s are fine for me. Stress is the likely culprit for the recent slightly elevated numbers.
Even given those slightly elevated overnight fasting numbers I still achieved my blood sugar targets. #Winning
It was a successful day. :) .
Here is a link to my ebook, “How to Reduce Blood Sugars“, if you need assistance reducing your blood sugars. I also explain why I have set my blood sugar targets to where they are today. :)
Peace, love and … normal blood sugars to you.
