11 Year Diabetes Check Up
When I began this journey the medical industry claimed diabetes was a debilitating disease with deteriorating health and increasing pain and suffering. Once again… they were wrong. It doesn’t have to be that way

As my blood sugars began trending lower, my excitement began growing that my body was adapting to the all-animal based diet. Not even I expected the fasting numbers of the past five days!
We DO NOT need plants to survive nor thrive!
I no longer desire the flesh of plants!
The most important lesson … just looking at fasting numbers is NOT enough.
My personal daily goal: Obtain and maintain truly normal blood sugars. Note: I am content to eat, play and LIVE as I do today… for the rest of my life. But I LOVE to experiment! And if I can help others find a means to improve their insulin sensitivity and improve their blood sugar levels, …
Brad, knowing how much I hate to lose, in an attempt to console me adds,
“I guess your age is catching up to you finally.”
What the hell???
Brad meant well when he said this, but to me … it was like sticking a hot stake into my eye!
Question: Why doesn’t the American Diabetes Association or the American Association of Diabetes Educators promote fasting as a means to reduce blood sugars?
I think we know… Greed, intellectual laziness, willful ignorance or all of the above.
I spent 30% of my time with my blood sugars in the 70’s and the remaining 70% of the time with my blood sugars between 80-100 mg/dl.
EVERYTHING we do is an experiment. Everything.
YOU are the results of all that you have done up to this point.
I urge you to pay attention to your experiment and try to improve your blood sugars, your health and your fitness. You will be glad you did. :)

The thought was, if I remove all ‘possible’ inflammatory agents (yes eggs are inflammatory to a small percentage of people) that perhaps my body would heal itself.
My personal experiment shows the positive effects resistant starch can have on your blood sugars, therefore potato starch can help you manage diabetes. I urge you not to eat a lot of high carb foods to obtain resistant starch, but to use Bob’s Red Mill Raw Potato Starch.
This is the kind of ignorance I fought when going ‘low carb paleo’.
THINK ABOUT THAT!
I have tested high fat, high carb foods in the past and as noted, my blood sugar would continue to rise for 2+ hours. That did not happen this time, so that is yet another HUGE PLUS!
I have definitely seen enough here today to continue experimenting with resistant starch.
In other words, given all the above reported benefits of resistant starch for diabetics, you would have to be an IDIOT not to experiment… so I did. :)
Ok… I have new readers so let me cover three things… important things. 1) Every thing we do is an experiment. Get it? Everything you are is a result of all your actions or inaction. What you do, eat and touch will affect you in some way. Will it be positive… or negative? 2) …
November was a month of ‘bashing’ the American Diabetes Association…and a month of thanks too of course. December was a month of experiments. The popularity of my humble attempt at educating, motivating and entertaining people (the blog) … has exceeded my expectations. Every month saw increases in readership… including November and December when people have many other …
If you are not familiar with my ‘Date with the Devil’ posts, you should read Day 1 and Day 2 before proceeding. In brief, I went very high carb for 24 hours, ‘the devil’ was high carbohydrates. I received quite a few comments and questions regarding my experiment … which told me I needed to …
I had a … date with the devil??? YES!!! … and by devil I mean… Carbohydrates!!! Now…I”m not talking about eating an orange wedge… or even a baked potato! We are talking full BORE high carb eating!!! ………… however I remained GLUTEN FREE! :) Note: If you are not drug / insulin free and if …
Why a new experiment? To gain knowledge of course! My high carb experiment was only 24 hours, from Noon to noon, 12/5 and 12/6/2011 but that was long enough. The devil being … carbohydrates. :) Notes 1) I am a Type 2 Diabetic who successfully self treats my disease with diet and exercise. I maintain …
